Fertility: Preconception Counseling

An appointment can be made to review history risk factors and evaluate menstrual history. It is important to be on prenatal vitamins and folic acid, and avoid medicines that are harmful to a fetus. A consultation visit prior to pregnancy would review pertinent information. This includes reviewing your menstrual cycle, educating on fertile times of your cycle, explaining how to evaluate ovulatory mucus and importance of timed sexual intercourse. We can also rule out male factor problem that may decrease pregnancy chances.
